first_imgThis summer, Nine Inch Nails will embark on a global tour, with the band touring heavily across Europe in June and July before closing their summer out with a pair of shows in Japan. Ahead of this trip across the Atlantic and beyond, Nine Inch Nails has announced two shows in Las Vegas, marking the group’s only shows in the United States for summer 2018. Nine Inch Nails’ only U.S. shows this summer will go down on June 13th and 15th at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, with tickets going on sale on Friday, March 30th, at 10 a.m. (PST).Last summer, Nine Inch Nails performed their first live concerts in three years with a handful of headlining festival performances as well as select one-off shows. What the rest of 2018 holds for the band remains a mystery, though in the past, Trent Reznor has offered up different takes on how Nine Inch Nails plans to hit the road following their return last year. As Reznor told Zane Lowe last July, “Our plan had been to do some touring next year to pivot Nine Inch Nails from being a band that tours for a year-and-a-half, two years a time and disappears for several years into one that might do a reasonable amount of shows a year.”The group has also been promoting their latest EP trilogy, with Not The Actual Events droping in December of 2016 and Add Violence coming out in July of 2017. The third and final installment in the EP trilogy, as stated by Trent Reznor to BBC Radio 6, should be released before the end of June.Nine Inch Nails 2018 Tour Dates:06/13 – Las Vegas, NV @ The Joint06/15 – Las Vegas, NV @ The Joint06/22 – London, UK @ Meltdown Festival06/24 – London, UK @ Royal Albert Hall ^06/25 – Paris, FR @ L’Olympia06/27 – Amsterdam, NL @ AFAS Live06/29 – St. Gallen, CH @ Open Air St. Gallen06/30 – Prague, CZ @ Aerodrome Festival07/02 – Berlin, DE @ Zitadelle07/04 – Roskilde, DK @ Roskilde Festival07/06 – Belfort, FR @ Les Eurockeennes07/08 – Werchter, BE @ Rock Werchter07/12 – Lisbon, PT @ NOS Alive Festival07/14 – Madrid, ES @ Mad Cool Festival08/17 – Tokyo, JP @ Sonic Mania08/19 – Osaka, JP @ Summer Sonic Festival^ = w/ Black Moth Super RainbowView All Tour Dates[H/T Consequence of Sound]last_img read more

first_imgSenegalese-American singer Akon, whose Akon Lighting Africa initiative aims to bring electricity to some of the 600 million Africans who lack it, announced on Thursday the launch of a new “Solar Academy” for the continent.Akon, 42, made the announcement at the United Nations Sustainable Energy for All Forum in New York. The project is one of the many under the Senegalese-American’s Akon Lighting Africa initiative, which was launched in 2014 to bring solar electricity power to 600 million Africans that currently live off the grid. The “Solar Academy,” will open this summer in Bamako, the capital of Mali. The academy will aim to teach people how to instal and maintain solar-powered electricity systems as well as micro grids, “which are really taking off in rural Africa”, Akon Lighting Africa said. The academy will teach solar engineers how to install and maintain solar panels and “micro-grids,” small electrical grids that provide power to a very limited region , harnessing the 320 days of sunshine that most parts of Africa receive annually.“Micro-grids” are increasingly popular in rural Africa, where conventional, large-scale power infrastructure is unavailable. When Akon is not singing or producing music, he is busy providing sustainable living options to people in African countries. The Senegalese-American singer’s initiative, appropriately called Akon Lighting Africa, aims to supply electricity to 600 million people in Africa who lack it.The Senegalese-American celebrity is the latest participant in what some have deemed a “solar revolution” that’s bringing the alternative energy source to the impoverished but sun-rich continent.Akon Lighting Africa is now present in 14 African countries and has provided solar power to more than 1 million households by subsidizing the cost of installation for consumers keen on replacing kerosene with solar energy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqoIQFfuvYElast_img read more
