Brock University is mourning the death of a former member of the University’s board of governors.Dr. Lillian Clark served on the board from 1990-1996. The MD, who grew up in Niagara, died Sunday. She was 94.Clark specialized in pediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and later obtained her fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada.In 1944, she joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was posted to Canada’s East Coast where he met her future husband and fellow doctor, John Clark.Throughout her career, Clark served on several local medical committees while practising pediatrics in Niagara Falls until 1993.She was also involved with local community organizations.A service of remembrance will happen Thursday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. at Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church. Credit: Ethan Clewell | Lantern ReporterThe Ohio State men’s 4×400-meter-relay team, junior Sade Olatoye and senior Zack Bazile earned All-American honors for their performances at the NCAA National Championship in College Station, Texas, on Saturday.Ohio State also had several second-team All-Americans. Each competitor at the meet was guaranteed to be at least a second-team All-American.Men’s recapThe Ohio State men’s team scored six points at this year’s championship meet, doubling last year’s total of three points, but still finishing in 36th place overall.Senior Zack Bazile earned first-team All-American honors in long jump with a fourth-place finish with a jump of 7.96 meters. Texas A&M’s Will Williams broke the facility record with a first-place jump of 8.19 meters. The 4×400-meter-relay team also earned All-American honors. The team, made up of sophomore Asa Burke, junior Nick Gray, senior Drelan Bramwell and freshman Andre Jeff, finished eighth with a time of 3:05.70. USC’s team broke the NCAA record with a time of 3:00.77. Gray also placed 10th after posting a time of 20.82 seconds in the 200-meter dash. He missed the finals and a first-team All-American honor by just .03 seconds. Houston’s Elijah Hall broke the NCAA record with a time of 20.02 seconds.Senior Nick Demaline placed 10th in shot put with a throw of 19.24 meters. Last season, he came in sixth in the championships after throwing 19.44 meters.For the first time this season, senior Cole Gorski no-heighted. He finished in 16th place.Women’s recapOlatoye was the lone scorer on the Buckeyes’ women’s team, scoring three points and repeating as an indoor All-American for weight throw. She finished sixth with a heave of 22.14 meters. Minnesota’s Kaitlyn Long broke the facility record with a throw of 23.70 meters.Olatoye also finished 12th in shot put with a throw of 16.12 meters. Junior Karrington Winters returned from injury to the 4×400-meter-relay team. Winters, senior Beatrice Hannan, sophomore Syaira Richardson and senior Maggie Barrie finished 11th with a time of 3:33.70.Barrie posted a time of 53.28 seconds to finish 12th in the 400-meter dash. USC’s Kendall Ellis and Kentucky’s Sydney Mclaughlin both broke the previous NCAA record at 50.46 seconds. Ellis now owns the record with a time of 50.34.Ohio State’s indoor season has concluded, but its outdoor season begins next weekend at Central Florida’s Black and Gold Challenge in Orlando, Florida. read more
